Saracione Mark IV reels
For more than twenty years Joe Saracione has built classic fly reels for trout and salmon fishing. These were handmade on manual machines, individually buffed, and assembled one at a time. They were very labor intensive to produce and soon became highly valued collectibles as a result of his great designs and wonderful craftsmanship. Joe gradually gained a devoted international following. Gerri and I were extremely happy that Joe wanted to build reels for us and we have many satisfied customers using our unique designs.
Joe informed us recently that he wouldn't produce our reels any more because they were too labor intensive. However, Joe started making a newly designed reel, the Mark IV, on new highly automated machinery that provides reels that are beautifully machined and finished without hand polishing. These reels have a traditional look and feel with a pawl click. In addition, Joe installed his own anodizing facility to make sure the reels are beautifully anodized under his careful supervision and the results are stunning. We are an authorized dealer for Joe's Mark IV reels and carry the trout models. We can order the salmon reels on special request.
The regular reels are anodized with traditional rich
gold bodies with black side
plates or clear anodized bodies which are silver colored with black side
plates. The reels are also available at an additional cost polished and anodized lustrous black. All reels come with a neoprene carrying case.
The trout models cannot be converted from right to left hand retrieve by the customer and must be ordered right-hand or left-hand retrieve. They can be converted later by Joe or us if needed.
Each reel is individually numbered and carries a lifetime warranty for the original purchaser. A warranty card is provided with each reel and simply needs to be filled out and mailed to Saracione Manufacturing.

2 ¾” -This diminutive reel is perfect for lighter lines and tippets. The pawl click is set precisely for light tippets and produces the wonderful sound of traditional reels when a fish is running. It's a wonderful reel for our lighter bamboo rods or our lightest graphite and fiberglass rods yet there is enough backing for a big fish when necessary.
3” -The drag is a simple preset gear & pawl overrunning check mechanism. This is the most popular size for our middle weight trout rods in bamboo, graphite, or fiberglass. The classic design looks great on rods and the function is perfect for light tippets and free running fish with the reel providing a good reserve of backing.
3 ¼” - The drag is a simple preset gear & pawl overrunning check mechanism with enough resistance to provide a tiring drag. Reels like this were always my favorite and a little extra drag can be applied with your thumb on the inside of the spool. It's a perfect size for our #5, #6, and #7 graphite and fiberglass rods where you need good backing capacity in a relatively light reel of classic design.
